The external power module in a robust metal chassis is designed for D-Link switches, where it provides redundant power backup. The integrated detection circuit continuously monitors the switch's internal power supply and, in the event of a fault, immediately takes over the power to ensure uninterrupted operation of the LAN and connected devices.

Thanks to its modular design, the power supply can operate standalone or be installed in the DPS-800 rack chassis. Deployment requires no changes to the switch configuration; the universal 90–264 V, 47–63 Hz input allows flexible use with a standard power cord. In the chassis, hot-swap is supported along with clean, space-saving cabling.
