Filtration through the BRITA MAXTRA PRO Pure Performance filter happens in 4 steps:

• Ultra-fine mesh: traps large particles from old pipes, such as sand or rust.
• Natural activated carbon beads made from coconut shells ensure chlorine and its derivatives, as well as trace contaminants like herbicides, pesticides, and pharmaceutical residues (if present in tap water), are reduced.
• Ion exchange beads reduce metals such as lead and copper and soften the water.
