The OM SYSTEM WS-883 is a lightweight and versatile recorder with a pair of high-quality stereo microphones in a 90° layout that faithfully capture every detail of voice even in room noise. It supports MP3 stereo (e.g., for meetings and interviews) and Linear PCM (mono, 22.05 kHz) with less compression for clear personal notes. The LCF filter suppresses low-frequency noises from air conditioning or projectors for more intelligible recordings.

Thanks to the Intelligent Auto Mode, the recorder automatically adjusts sensitivity to the environment—boosting distant voices in large rooms and attenuating nearby sources in smaller spaces. Two included rechargeable AAA Ni‑MH batteries enable up to 68 hours of recording, and with alkaline AAA up to 110 hours. Transfer recordings and data easily via the integrated USB connector; the device can also be used as a USB drive.

Operation is simplified by a clear menu, a 1.6" display, a front speaker, and an integrated stand for desk use. Smart playback features—calendar search, voice balancing, Noise Reduction, normalization, variable speed 0.5×–2×, shadowing practice, and Voice Playback—save time and improve intelligibility.
